The addition of the GIS
program at CMMCP has given the Project a new tool for creating a more
productive, efficient mosquito control program. In time, the GIS will
encompass essentially all aspects and services of CMMCP, helping in the
collaboration of various departments.
Yearly updates of the GIS will include, but are not
limited to, data from the following
programs:
- Catch Basin Larvicide Program
- Ground Larvicide Program
- Aerial Larvicide Program
- Surveillance Program
- Wetlands Restoration Program
The following data sets will also be updated
regularly:
- No Spray Locations
- Adulticide Service Request Locations
- Arbovirus Activity Locations
- Any additional requested information deemed
useful to the various CMMCP Departments
Once
updates have been made, the GIS will be able to help analyze numerous aspects
and relationships of the CMMCP protocol, creating a more efficient mosquito
control program. Pre-season town-by-town planning as well as end of season
town-by-town reports will be created to further help the staff in their
assignments. Additional mapping needs of the staff will also be incorporated
into the projects of the GIS department.
For
the participating communities of the project, assorted maps will be created
for the Annual Town Reports. In addition, prospective towns may also have
informational maps made that display our service activities and arbovirus
locations in their surrounding towns. GIS datalayers on our program will also
be made available to member cities and towns and requesting state agencies.
