Auburn Vector Spray Event July 24, 2018
Auburn 2018: updated 7/25/18 7:11am
Mosquitoes with West Nile Virus were confirmed July 18 in a surveillance trap set July 12 by CMMCP in the northeast part of town. Working with the Auburn Board of Health, truck-mounted Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) spraying was done in the area below on July 24 after sunset.
Catch basins were treated in this area in this area to stop emergence of mosquito species that can carry WNV, and additional surveillance traps have been set up to gauge population density and determine if additional virus can be isolated.
It’s important to note that spraying can only reduce but not eliminate the threat of mosquito-borne illness in the areas that are sprayed. That’s why it’s important for individuals to continue to take personal precautions against mosquito bites — both before and after any spraying is conducted.
