Suspend SC (deltamethrin)
About Suspend® SC:
The product name of a mosquito adulticide used by the Project in LV (Low Volume) sprayers is called Suspend® SC.
To reduce the need for repeated applications and provide more sustained relief from mosquitoes in high public use areas, CMMCP may recommend a “barrier spray treatment”. This application would be made to public use areas such as schools (applications to schools must be in compliance with MGL Ch. 85), playgrounds, athletic fields, and parks. A barrier spray is an application to the surrounding vegetation and may reduce mosquito presence for two or more weeks (weather dependent).
Suspend SC has an active ingredient deltamethrin. Deltamethrin is commonly used in bed nets, as well as many other commercial products. We use a 4.75% solution that is diluted in water 1 oz. Suspend SC to 1 gallon of water ( 0.045% finish spray). The truck with the sprayer will drive the perimeter of the property to apply to area that mosquitoes may rest during the daytime. All spraying is done after sunset.
Some common pyrethroid products use by consumers include pesticides for common household pests such as ants and wasps; flea and tick shampoos/collars for pets; lice and scabies treatments (shampoos, etc.) for humans; insect repellent clothing, etc.
