Epi Week #22 - 2015 General Statements

May 31 – Jun 6

Weather

Our weather expert noted that it has been a very dry spring for most of the state. While most of us were dreading the impact of the melting of all that snowpack left over from the “Snowpocalypse,” a spring with virtually no rain meant that there was a lot less mosquito habitat to start the season. With recent rain events, Southern Worcester County, Southern Middlesex County, Norfolk County, Northern Bristol County, and Northern Plymouth County are now rated Abnormally Dry; the rest of the state remains at Moderate Drought status as of June 9th (US Drought Monitor on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln website).
